Malaysians look forward to the festive seasons to reunite with family, catch up with extended family, and of course, feast on delicious food.

But here’s what they don’t look forward to: Those awkward and competitive questions from those nosy Uncles and Aunties. That’s a real dampener to the festive feeling. How can Nando’s, a family restaurant, bring families closer while enjoying great food?

Solution

We knew, answering these awkward questions can be tricky. Which is why we brought in The Relatives, a band that specialises in answering all your relatives’ questions on your behalf.

It began during Chinese New Year (Year of the Chicken), when The Relatives asked viewers to submit awkward questions they normally get. In follow-up episodes, The Relatives answered these questions in song.

The band’s quirky take on awkward questions made them a hit. The Relatives made a comeback for the Hari Raya celebration. And they made an encore again for Deepavali. All to reconnect families to Talk Cock, Sing Song, Eat Nando’s.

Report Card of Happiness

Build connection for INTI International University & Colleges with one of the main influencers behind a secondary school student’s college choice – their teacher.

Challenge

When students complete secondary school and are looking to further their education, INTI College was far from a top-of-mind consideration.

Idea

The INTI Report Card of Happiness – a nationwide campaign that got students to turn the tables on their teachers. Through a call-to-action web film, we asked students to grade their teachers according to one these traits: Awesome, Brilliant, Cool, Delightful, Excellent or Fantastic.

The report card submissions were directed to a microsite that generated leads for future intakes.

As excitement about the role reversals gained momentum, another web film was released two weeks later, on Teacher’s Day. This web film was a touching reminder on the roles teachers play in their students’ lives. It was even shared on Facebook by Malaysia’s Ministry of Education!

Pengacau Raya Series

Idea

Pengacau Raya – a series of webisodes that really stirred things up on social media. It began with a simple story of unity on the occasion of Hari Raya, involving a Chinese Boy married to a Malay Girl, that stole the hearts of Malaysians. Every episode touched on a different phase in their lives and how BSN played a part in it.

2015

Episode 1 — We’re introduced to Aloysius and Zaitun – a Chinese / Malay married couple – sharing their excitement of celebrating their first Hari Raya together. The premise of this story itself caused a stir amidst racial tensions that were heating up during the campaign launch.

2016

Episode 2 — Aloysius and Zaitun’s story continued on to Chinese New Year, with them now expecting their first child, much to the excitement of the two grandfathers-to-be.

Episode 3 — In this instalment, BSN released their first product-centric brand film about the couple looking to buy a home, promoting the bank’s Youth Housing Scheme.

Episode 4 — The quirky BSN narrative of unity, happiness and being Malaysian continued with a road trip for Hari Raya 2016.

Kucing Happy

Create awareness and build affinity with Gen-Y in conjunction with BSN’s 40th anniversary.

Challenge

BSN needed to introduce themselves to a younger audience on social media. But the bank has been slow to embrace digital in the past.

Idea

Social media engagement is no job for an ordinary man. So we created Kucing Happy – a cat who talked his way into the hearts of Malaysians by asking them to wish for something that would make them happy. Over 6 webisodes, Kucing Happy filtered through over 50,000 wishes and granted some of them with his own interpretation of what would make them happy.

Sime Darby Plantation (SDP) is the plantation and agri-business arm of the Sime Darby Group. For their listing on Bursa Malaysia, SDP hired us to develop and design a new website to comply with listing requirements.

We created a mobile-friendly, visually driven site which features SDP’s brands and corporate information. We ensured the site is SEO optimised, and also developed a CMS with customised landing pages for different users.

Today, the SDP website continues to drive interest among investors and generate leads for SDP’s individual products.

Global Website Revamp

PETRONAS is Malaysia’s only Fortune 500 company.

We started off with the redesign and rebranding of PETRONAS’ global corporate site for the national oil & gas company’s 44th anniversary in 2018. We developed a digital CI, made the new design mobile-friendly and optimised it for SEO. We also developed a new CMS which will house all PETRONAS entities under one roof in the near future.
